Introduction to the use of different wavelengths
The alexandrite wavelength provides more powerful energy absorption for melanin hair masses, making it ideal for the widest range of hair types and colours - especially light and thin hair. 755nm wavelength has a much shallower penetration, it targets follicular bulges and is particularly effective on lighter hair in areas such as the eyebrows and upper lip.
The classic 808nm wavelength in laser hair removal offers high average power, high repetition rate and deep follicle penetration with a large spot size for fast treatment. 808nm has a moderate level of melanin absorption making it safe for deeper skin types. Its deep penetration ability targets the follicular bulge and bulb, while the moderate depth of tissue penetration makes it ideal for treating arms, legs, cheeks and beards.
The yag 1064nm wavelength features low melanin absorption, making it a focused solution for darker skin types. It offers the deepest follicle penetration, targeting the bulb and nipples as well as treating deeply buried hairs in areas such as the scalp, arm pits and pubic area. As higher absorption produces higher temperatures, the addition of the 1064nm wavelength increases the thermal effect of the overall laser treatment, resulting in efficient hair removal.
